
Mark S. Germain
Mark Germain is a founder and Chairman of the Board of Zirus. He is a veteran biotech industry businessman having been involved as a founder, director, Chairman of the Board of, and/or investor in over twenty companies in the biotech field. As such he has extensive experience in arranging corporate partnerships, acquiring technology, entering into mergers and acquisitions, and executing financings and public offerings.

Don Rubin, M.D.
Don Rubin, MD, is the scientific founder, advisor and an Executive Board Member of Zirus. Dr. Rubin is a pioneer in the understanding of virus host interactions and is the lead inventor of Zirus’s application of the gene trap to discover host targets involved in viral replication. Dr. Rubin received his BA in Sociology at State University of New York at Stony Brook and his MD at Cornell University Medical College. He completed his post-doctoral work in infectious disease at Harvard Medical School and is currently a Professor of Medicine, Microbiology and Immunology at Vanderbilt University and Associate Chief of Staff for Research and Development at the affiliated VA Medical Center.

Andrew Sorensen, Ph.D.
Andrew Sorensen, Ph.D., is a Member of Zirus’s Board of Directors. Dr. Sorensen has had a distinguished career as a leader of many academic institutions including Dean, School of Public Health, University of Massachusetts at Amherst; Executive Director, AIDS Institute, Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions; Provost and Vice-President for Academic Affairs, University of Florida; and President of the University of Alabama and University of South Carolina. Dr. Sorenson received his Ph.D. from Yale University and is a Member of the National Institutes of Health National Science Advisory Board on Biosecurity, the Board of Directors of Association of the Academic Health Centers and the National Board of Public Health Examiners.

John P. Richard
John P. Richard has extensive experience as a strategic and commercial development advisor for biotechnology companies. Mr. Richard received his MBA from Harvard Business School and his BS from Stanford University. He currently serves as a partner with Georgia Venture Partners, as Senior Business Advisor to GPC Biotech AG, and as Senior Venture Partner with Nomura Phase4 Ventures. Previously, Mr. Richard was Executive Vice President, Business Development, at SEQUUS Pharmaceuticals, where he was responsible for negotiating the acquisition of SEQUUS by ALZA Corporation in 1999. Prior to SEQUUS, Mr. Richard headed business development for VIVUS and Genome Therapeutics Corporation. In 1987 he co-founded and served as original CEO of IMPATH Inc., a leading cancer diagnostics business now a part of Genzyme.

David Perryman
President & CEO and a founder of Zirus. Prior to Zirus, He founded and served on the board of directors of several biotechnology companies. He was a shareholder and head of the Biotechnology Patent Practice group at Needle & Rosenberg, delivering patent business strategy to biotech companies, venture capital funds, the CDC, NIH, FDA, and numerous universities.
